Or whatever else the day calls for!
Iowa born and raised, I currently live in Iowa City with my lovely girlfriend Emily (whom you may see as my assistant on some shoots!), her dog Rory, and my cat Luna. Whenever I don’t have a camera in my hand, I like spending my time camping, hiking (oops I actually still bring a camera for both those), playing guitar, watching movies, or working on one of an endless list of DIY projects.
I’ve had an interest in cameras and movies since I was a young child, and began shooting professionally in 2018. I graduated college in 2020 with degrees in Cinema and Journalism, which has helped shape the way I work.
My journey with weddings began when I was asked to shoot video/live stream my brother’s wedding ceremony on a locked-down tripod at the back while I was up front. Not long after that a friend asked me to help him shoot another wedding. I found it so fun and rewarding to capture a couple’s big day and love for each other, so I started doing it more! I teamed up with some friends to form a business shooting weddings for a few years, but started my own business after they moved away.
From simple small backyard celebrations, to extravagant large-scale weddings, I’ve done it all.
I love creating a style that is a bit more “moody” and “organic”. I lean into the shadows, contrast, and love warm and earthy tones that feel “organic”.
I also am a believer that you should spend your wedding day being present and celebrating your love with your family and friends. That’s why I incorporate a documentary, “fly on the wall” approach to my style to minimize disruption and distraction to your day.
Every couple is unique, so I don’t believe every wedding should be captured with the same cookie-cutter formula. My goal is to get to know you before your big day, so that I can highlight what makes your love story special. Whether you’re more reserved and prefer an intimate and classic feel, or you’re the bombastic life of the party and want that energy captured with excitement—I’ll capture your vibe and make you feel comfortable and confident while doing so.
At the end of the day, I want you to feel like you had a friend in your corner—not just someone holding a camera.
